The owner of this Clubhouse wanted to dramatically transform their function room in order to attract more business. Their previous space was dark, very masculine and lacked colour and character. The beams although beautiful, were dominating the room, making it feel small and bleak. The carpet was busy and there was no co-ordination or structure in regards to furniture and lighting. Pictures and bric-a-brac were also placed sporadically about the space, cluttering up the walls.
We stripped back the space, exposing its true character. We painted out most of the beams to camouflage them into the ceiling and highlighted key features in a medium grey to create a dramatic feature, forming the illusion of heightened space, instantly lightening the room and making it feel more inviting. I selected a tartan patterned carpet to flow through from the entrance, up the grand stairwell, into the bar, through to the function room and continuing on to the customer toilets. The continuous design pulls all the zones together to create a coherent and unified space that now feels private for the guests celebrating there.
The serene interior is achieved with hues of blue and grey in the fabrics and finishes and the industrial style lighting and accessories enhance the natural character of the building. These combined generate a beautiful blend of tradition and contemporary. I even sourced a local artist to produce bespoke artwork for the dining area.
The bar and guest toilets were also given a make over. The back bar and fascia was painted grey to match the rest of the woodwork and upholstered panels were made to fit. The toilets were completely stripped out, the layout in the ladies was reworked to create an additional cubical and improve the flow. Then both spaces were transformed with new flooring, sanitaryware, lighting and tiling. The decorative flooring is eye catching and a continuation of the stunning tartan carpet in the main hospitality area.
This project was a design and install so once the design was approved by the client we met with multiple trades and skilled professionals to attain a project price. I created a program of works and we turned the refurbishment round in the planned 6 weeks.
Since completing this fantastic project the client has been inundated with enquiries for weddings, functions and events. I could not be more thrilled for them and hope that many special memories are created there for years and years to come.
