My biggest residential renovation recently completed. This now, grade 2 listed property, is from the Georgian era. Previously having undergone many changes with past owners, the building had lost its charm and some of its period features. I was eager to reinstate these beautiful details and inject life back in to its understated interior.
Period coving, plaster moulded entrance archway and Georgian style sash windows were just some of the architectural details that have been incorporated into this project. Early Georgian interiors used pastel shades and delicate patterns, these details were very influential in the redesign. I sourced period lighting and selected traditional styled furniture for many of the rooms.
The age of this property meant there were many challenges throughout the install. The house needed a full rewire and most of the plumbing needed reworking. The extended part of the property was internally knocked down to create an open plan family living space and needed assistance from a structural engineer and an architect for planning submission. Whilst conservation officers liaised with me to provide Listed building consent for the replacement of the sash windows that were in a dire state of repair.
I was there at each stage of the design and install; planning, pricing and co-managing the site with an established building firm based in Liverpool. Together we worked as a team, joining forces with local electricians, plasterer, decorators, joiners and plumbers. Specialist contractors were commissioned to install Lincrusta panels, plaster moulded covings and the beautiful entrance arch, sand and lacquer the existing wood floors and manufacturer bespoke period sash windows.
With delays caused by Covid and Brexit this install was our most complicated one to date. With perseverance, patience and overwhelming determination the team and I were able to co-ordinate and steer this project to the very end. The ultimate reward being the wonderfully kind and tremendously positive feedback from both the client and their friends and family.
